Mike Moreland

MIKE MORELAND 

Michael Moreland was educated in the craft of musical composition at the University of Kansas (B.M. 1987) and the University of Missouri in Kansas City (M.M. 1992) before being schooled in the Kansas City blues and jazz scene. Michael has been playing keyboards in various blues and jazz bands in the Kansas City area since the early 1990’s, and is now playing regularly with the Wild Women of Kansas City.  Michael is also a prolific songwriter, arranger and composer. In addition to performing original songs in clubs, he has had performances by the New Ear Contemporary Music Ensemble, The Northland Symphony, The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, The Kansas City Youth Symphony, and Leon Brady’s Kansas City Youth Jazz Bands. Currently Michael teaches music technology courses at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park and operates a recording studio, Hammerhead Audio.
