RIE SINCLAIR

Rie’s got a thing that’s hard to describe.  Her music has a haunting poetry that makes you think, and not necessarily about the story she’s singing.  While listening to this Sia-like voice, you’ll catch yourself being reminded of moments in life, memories bubbling to the surface for no apparent reason other than Rie’s underlying soundtrack.  Quirky production and an extremely vulnerable vocal delivery will break down any walls you may be bringing to the table allowing you to swim in whatever floods rush behind closed eyelids.

After several releases, Emmy-Nominated Rie Sinclair's official "Debut" Album, A Moment You Never Dreamed, launched late Dec 2009 - US/early spring 2010 - UK. She's created a following over the several years as a songwriter, and chances are you've heard her tunes on shows like "Ghost Whisperer", "Dirt", "Law & Order", "Smantha Who", "Bionic Woman", and other various MTV, ABC & NBC shows, with a personal cameo from Miss Sinclair on Season II of "Californication". This "Sparkling Violeteer's" new dark, raw, & sexy LP was co-produced by the artist with Eli Thomson (Richard Swift), & brought to life with a collective of amazing musicians who've played alongside Alanis Morissette, Damien Rice, Kate Voegele, Dido, The Goo Goo Dolls, Foreigner, Dick Dale, Abandoned Pools, Macy Gray, & Pete Yorn, etc. Mastered by three-time Grammy winner Gavin Lurssen in Los Angeles, A Moment captures Rie's haunting but playful vibe in a 40 something-minute set that could easily score a film.

Since 2004, Rie has been writing music for ABC, where a majority of her songs have seen airplay.  Whether performed by Rie herself or other vocalists, her lyrics and melodies have captivated a wide range of fans.  Not only was she the voice of SOAPnet's first original series, but numerous placements on various networks for Primetime, and several mini-theme songs for ABC's Daytime shows (Kish song, "My Confession" & JaSam's theme, "Just You & Me"), have given Rie a graceful span of eclectic range for this chameleon-like composer.  Although releasing a full- length LP end of 2007 for ABC fans, post an initial EP, “Glow”, “A Moment” will be more true to the artist’s dark, moody, atmospheric tones & quirky nature.  Sinclair also announced her side project, Oliver The Penguin with collaborator Tommy Walter (Abandoned Pools, The Eels) Spring 2009, creating the duo’s first iTunes-only Album, “Button Pusher”.  The production team originally started out collaborating on music for TV (Early 2010's theme song "What's A Girl To Do" on the CW's Blonde Charity Mafia), and ended up as bandmates.

Home grown in St. Paul, MN, Rie’s childhood was spent in the theatre after her parents early divorce.  She lived with her brother & mother in a small urban flat for a majority of her youth, initially dreaming of tap dancing & playing the drums.  Also drawn to the stage, Rie found an interest in rigging lights, building sets, and other magical crafts of that secret world.  With her inventive spirit & wild imagination, she’s  had a bent toward philosophical pursuits,  crazy adventures, & attempting to dream the impossible.
