About S3
S3 Music + Sound was founded by three friends looking to achieve higher musical and sonic standards that effortlessly merge with visual media and branding. We strive to realize the potential of every project, regardless of scope, while combining unique and contrasting skills to produce powerful, innovative ideas. We're also smaller, and more personable - our clients work directly with the composers and designers that create their vision.
Michael Suby
Composer/Creative Director Michael Suby graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2000 along side S3 partner Adam Sanborne. He has since cemented his reputation in film and television as an adept writer for comedies, (The Simple Life, Robot Chicken), dramas, (The Scholar, Kyle XY), and deeply rich, dark and melodic film scores, (The Butterfly Effect, The Zodaic and Tamara). While at S3 Mike has also worked on spots for Verizon, Celebrity Cruises, Alpine, and Autodesk to name a few.
Mike is 5' 8" with dark hair and a forehead you could land a plane on. But thanks to the miracles of minoxodil, he has maintained a pathetically whispy head of hair which must be shaved at all times. Mike enjoys sports, hiking and is currently the S3 darts champion, although he openly admits that the competition at the office could be better.
Steve Schemerhorn
Engineer and producer Steve Schemerhorn brings his technical wizardry to S3 along with twenty years of experience in radio and television production. Steve began his career as a sound engineer working live sound for music groups on the East coast until migrating to Southern California where he polished his skills of recording, mixing and mastering. In addition to his commercial work, Steve's film credits as a recording engineer include New Line's "The Butterfly Effect" and "The Real Cancun."
The only real challenger on the darts scene, Steve has won 3 out of his last 123 attempts against Suby. Steve has three human children but fifteen total if you include his microphone collection, which he also scolds, praises and tucks into bed at night. Steve originates from Virginia and Northern Florida so he has a funny accent.
Adam Sanborne
Adam Sanborne, also a Berklee grad, is S3's electronic beat chef, songwriter, and brain behind unconventional scores and cutting-edge sound design. Adam's music has been featured on ABC, FOX and MTV, and in shows including Robot Chicken (Cartoon Net) and Starting Over (NBC). His commercial and film work includes Coke, Verizon Wireless, Alpine, Nickelodeon, and music for New Line's "The Real Cancun" and "About Schmidt (DVD)," and Hip Film's "Pledge of Allegiance".
Additionally, Adam has developed a number of distinct sound mnemonics for company branding logos, boasting such titles as Atari, Midway Games, Staples and Archipelago.
Not really one for Darts, Adam chooses to obsess about organized sports and have long conversations with his obese cat Rocky. From trading cards to team uniforms, Adam has it all. Despite warnings from his wife, he even recently tied the knot with an inflatable Curt Schilling doll, completely disregarding the polygamy laws of this state. Mike thinks Adam should use Rogaine. "Adam should use Rogaine," says Suby. Luckily he looks pretty good in a ball cap.
